The Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh Hosts Composer and Violinist Alyssa Wang
The Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh (COP) celebrates the remarkable talents of composer, violinist, and conductor Alyssa Wang February 5, 2023, 3:00pm at Calvary United Methodist Church. For this program, COP is commissioning an original work from Wang, a violin concerto titled Swept Away, and this program will feature its world premiere performance with Wang as soloist. COP will also present Jozef Haydn’s Symphony No. 44, his “Mourning” Symphony, and Sinfonietta No. 1 by Malcolm Arnold. Reception to follow.
“Alyssa Wang is a tremendous, multi-faceted talent,” says Artistic Director and Conductor Edward Leonard. “This concert continues our commitment to commissioning new works from exciting and diverse composers, as well as fulfilling our mission to present rarely performed masterpieces from the past.

Announcing the fourth concert of the Tiffany Concert Series presented by The Allegheny Historical Preservation Society. This concert is a fundraiser. All proceeds will go toward the Calvary UMC Pew Restoration Project.
The concert features members of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra string section performing solos, chamber music, divertimenti, and larger works. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness the exceptional talent of these musicians and the next generation of performing artists!.

FELLOWSHIP - FOLLOWING MORNING WORSHIP Following morning worship in the Calvary Chapel Come to the chapel following morning worship for fellowship. A light array of foods and beverages will be served.
SLEEPING BAG GROUP 6:30pm in the Calvary Fellowship Hall The sleeping bags are made from recycled materials, packed with personal items such as toothpaste, shampoo, hats and gloves then distributed to nearby homeless shelters. The team is also working on plastic mats made from plastic grocery bags. There is plenty to do. No sewing experience needed. Please consider joining us on Monday evenings. Questions? BIBLE STUDY 6:30-7:30pm / Calvary UMC Chapel & online with Zoom This year, we are launching a second Bible Study that will be on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30pm. This Bible Study is a partnership with New Destiny CME Church and Rev. Kornelius Neal. We are beginning with a study of the Apostle Paul's missionary journeys, covering the different places he went and what went into writing each of his books of the Bible.
